This is a great demonstration of a Nicholson and Sun custom design and build. The clients wanted many lines of sight throughout the house to allow direct communication with their children. We had the challenge of coming up with a custom floor plan that incorporated these many different lines of sight to allow direct visual communication. The result was a layout that featured balconies and stairways positioned between the floors at different points to interconnect the main spaces of the house visually.

Using advanced framing, extra thick non-penetrated walls, high insulation, and a 3.1kw solar array we earned a HERS score of 29! For additional carbon we build the main body of the house on a permanent would foundation, and featured an interior carbon wall made from wood cutoff that would otherwise have ended up in the landfill.
